The most beautiful way to shut up your partner

Some time ago, we at penumbra asked ourselves an important question: which features does a gag need so we want to produce it?
The first point, of course, was high quality and medical safety in the choice of the gag ball. Fortunately, we found a great partner and artist in Anja from SelfDelve. If you want to learn more about her and her production process, feel free to read more here.

For us, the construction of the gag strap was just as important. It needed to be both beautiful and practical. We prioritized the familiar penumbra quality and a versatile design. And did I mention the hygienic aspects? Moreover, swapping out the balls with minimal effort should be possible.
We faced a small challenge, which we gladly accepted. Today, I can proudly say that we are delighted with the result. Let’s take a closer look at the penumbra gag straps.

The design

The most important element, of course, is the beautifully designed strap of our gags. We can customize it to match all our collar designs in any color and material combination. The straps are available in leather or vegan alternatives. We use classic or lockable buckles as closures, and they are fastened at the back of the neck.

In the front, the gag straps are equipped with D-rings to which a mouthpiece made of synthetic material is attached. Any gag can be threaded onto this mouthpiece since the mouthpiece and strap are connected with book screws. From the outside, it looks as if everything is riveted, but if you look at the inside of the connection, you will notice that you can loosen it with a screwdriver.

We chose this option because it was important for us to use a material for the mouthpiece that does not absorb saliva and can be easily cleaned and disinfected. Additionally, we want to offer you maximum flexibility. Therefore, it was crucial that you can easily swap out your gag balls yourself with just a few simple steps. Each of our gag straps includes a gag ball.

Unless otherwise specified, it is a black ball with a diameter of 45 mm. Of course, there are also larger and smaller balls or other colors. You can also order the gag balls directly from our shop; you can find them here.

How does it work?

For most of our collections, we have created gag configurators so you can easily assemble your desired design. An overview of the fully configurable gags in our shop can be found here.

After you place your order, we will craft your gag strap, pack it, and include one of the wonderful silicone balls. Your gag will then be on its way to you.

We don’t thread the ball onto the strap because you will probably want to clean it again before it’s used – it’s easier when everything is not yet assembled.

To make the gag ready for use, you only need to loosen one of the book screws on the inside, which connects the mouthpiece with the strap. Then thread the ball onto it, tighten the screw, and you’re all set 🥳
