Once upon a time, there was a young woman that wanted something special. Something that was nowhere to be found.

At the same time, she was finishing her training as a seamstress and thought about using her skills to create certain kinky products for her own personal needs.

That young woman’s name is Lena, and today, many years later, she’s the creative mind behind penumbra – a BDSM and fetish brand known for its unique designs and high-quality handmade products.

Lena founded penumbra back in 2014 in a small corner of her first apartment, initially as a hobby project besides her “real” job: designing and sewing gorgeous gowns. Back then, everything was still small and easy to manage: the first workshop was in her own apartment, and the first customers were primarily friends and acquaintances.

Thanks to a wonderful community and the best customers ever, the little side hustle grew up to become a real business and Lena closed the doors to her tailor shop in 2019 to fully concentrate on penumbra.
A few years and moves later, penumbra found its home in a spacious workshop in Burgenland (Austria), where Lena and her team still create all their products with love and by hand.
